Project context
A self-initiated community project by McKay Seamons, built and made available for free alongside Dwarf Dig development. This is an unofficial resource, not a commission from or an endorsement by WOWCube / Cubios.
The user journey
- 01Choose a development task
- 02Find the relevant reference
- 03Check version and language
- 04Explore examples and source
01
The origin: build once, share what helps
Dwarf Dig and WOWCube Docs grew out of the same development effort. McKay created the documentation site while developing the game, then made it freely available to other developers. The result is a separate web product with a different audience: people building for the device rather than people playing on it.
02
The challenge: turn reference material into a usable tool
Developers arrive with different questions. Some need an API signature; others need a working example or an explanation of the cube's topology. The documentation hub supports those routes with search, version and language filters, and task-based entry points for graphics, movement between modules, audio, and saved state.
03
The experience: keep the reading workflow connected
API reference, examples, SDK source, WOWConnect guidance, and release notes sit within a common navigation system. Keyboard search and reading tools support repeat use. The site also states its independent status clearly, with a route back to the official development kit.
04
The result: an audience beyond the original game
Creator-reported usage has reached more than 2,000 users a month. That gives this project a concrete story beyond a portfolio demo: a tool built during one project became a free resource for a broader developer community.
